MALTA TOURISM AUTHORITY AND BE VIACOM SIGN THREE YEAR DEAL TO SECURE HOTTEST EVENT IN SUMMER MUSIC CALENDAR.

The beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta will once again play host to international superstars as Be Viacom, Viacom International Media Network’s brand engagement division and Malta Tourism Authority announce a three-year partnership to produce the music spectacular that is Isle of MTV.

Today’s announcement, made at London’s World Travel Market, marks the seventh consecutive year that MTV and MTA will collaborate in producing the MTV live event in Floriana’s beautiful, historic Il-Fosos Square. Fifty thousand music fans descend on the island for one of the must-attend highlights of the summer music calendar. Next year’s extravaganza has been confirmed for June 26th 2013.

Since Isle of MTV has been held in Malta, the number of visitors to the island, younger than 24, has increased by 88 percent and now account for 20.3 percent of all tourists.

Isle of MTV is considered one of the coolest and most eclectic free European summer music events and has built a reputation for showcasing some of the biggest names from the international music scene. Previous performers have included will.i.am, Flo Rida, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, The Black Eyes Peas, LMFAO and David Guetta.

The open-air concert combines live performance and is filmed and edited into a 60-minute special that is broadcast across 20 MTV channels throughout Europe.

The talent line-up and further details for Isle of MTV 2013 will be announced in the spring.
